PERSONNEL AWARDED WITH PRESIDENTS POLICE MEDAL FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AND POLICE MEDAL FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE ON THE OCCASION OF REPUBLIC DAY 2024

On the occasion of India's 75th Republic Day 2024, the President is pleased to award "President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service" and "Police Medal for Meritorious Service" to the following Officers/personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) “Angel in Orange.”

HC/GD P.Kumara Velu joined ITBP in 1994. After basic training, he underwent Anti-Terrorist Commando Course and was posted to Bn on Indo-China Border. In July 2001, he remained posted in Quick Reaction Team and his team eliminated several hard-core foreign & local mercenaries and succeeded in getting many others to surrender. He discharged his duties in SPG for 9 years. He was awarded with Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Republic Day-2017. In recognition of his hard work, dedication and 29 years of unblemished service, he has been awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

Dr. Amit Murari joined ITBP in 2005. He joined NDRF on deputation in 2018 where he underwent various courses from prestigious institutes like AIIMS, IIM, BARC Mumbai etc. in India and abroad. He has earned numerous appreciates for his exemplary contribution in providing medical treatment to more than 13000 victims. During COVID-19 pandemic, he helped to save lives of many seriously ill-admitted COVID patients/family without caring of his own life. He has earned Utkrisht Seva Medal, and Uttarakhand CM Appreciation. In recognition to his hard work, dedication, 19 years of unblemished service, he has been awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Sh. Pankaj Kavidayal joined BSF in 2000. The officer has successfully served in various capacities in extremely inhospitable and sensitive segments of International Border with Pakistan & Bangladesh, LC and IS duties in different parts of the Country. He joined the NDRF on deputation in 2020. In recognition of his hard work, dedication, 23 years of unblemished service, he has been awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
The President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service is awarded for long and distinguished service to individuals who have served at least 25 years in the State/Central police or in security organizations. Individual must be prior recipient of the Police Medal for Meritorious Service and must have held that medal for at least six years.
The Police Medal for Meritorious Service is awarded to the personnel of police and security organization who have completed a minimum service of 18 years. The medal is awarded to personnel for their commendable work whether operational or administrative.
So far, 14 NDRF Officers/personnel have been awarded with President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and 93 personnel with Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
