Hon’ble Minister of State for Home Affairs Felicitates Winners as NDRF Successfully Concludes First National CBRN Competition for SDRFs

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) successfully conducted the Closing Ceremony of the First-ever National-Level CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) Capacity Building Competition for State Disaster Response Forces (SDRFs) today at Adarsh Auditorium, Delhi Police Headquarters, New Delhi. Hon’ble Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Nityanand Rai, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The competition was organized to enhance the preparedness, operational efficiency and inter-agency coordination among SDRFs in managing CBRN emergencies. Total 18 SDRF teams from across the States and Union Territories participated in a structured, multi-stage competition featuring realistic, simulation-based challenges. Mentors were provided by NDRF to each team and 02 weeks focussed training was imparted to hone their skills.

In his address, Hon’ble Minister commended the NDRF’s continued commitment to strengthen the nation’s disaster response framework in alignment with the vision of a “Disaster-Resilient India and underlined the significance of adopting a “Zero Casualty” approach. He stressed the need for a scientific response
mechanism, standardized training and seamless coordination among national and state-level response agencies.

The Chief Guest lauded the initiative by NDRF in skill upgradation of SDRF by creating an environment of learning and competitiveness. He also reiterated the commitment of govt. of India in fulfilling ten points Sendai Framework on disaster management tasked by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India and adequate resources to NDRF for strengthening disaster response. He congratulated the NDRF for conceptualizing this national platform for SDRFs to develop specialized CBRN response capabilities and assured all possible support from the Ministry to NDRF in strengthening its response capacities.
Winners of the National-Level CBRN Competition:

 1st Place (Champion Team): Tamilnadu SDRF Cash Prize: ₹1,00,000 & trophy
 2nd Place: Uttarakhand SDRF Cash Prize: ₹75,000 & trophy
 3rd Place: Himachal Pradesh SDRF Cash Prize: ₹50,000 & trophy

On this occasion, Shri Piyush Anand, Director General, NDRF, expressed that the competition served as a collaborative platform for training, knowledge sharing and operational innovation. He emphasized that the lessons learned would significantly strengthen India’s overall CBRN preparedness.
Senior dignitaries from NDMA, Ministry of Home Affairs, NDMA, CAPFs and State officials also witnessed the event. The Hon’ble Minister interacted with SDRF teams and appreciated their role in disaster situations across the country.
