UNESCAP & DEPwD DELEGATION VISITS NDRF HQ, NEW DELHI

Today, a Delegation of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment visited National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) HQ, New Delhi in context of holding a national consultation and Data collection on Disability statistics in India.

The main focus of the meeting was on issues related to differently abled people during Disaster. The Persons with special needs face unique challenges during every stage of emergency and disaster management due to inaccessible warnings, evacuation, response and long term recovery efforts. The National Disaster Response Force plays a significant role in assisting disaster affected people. It is also striving to enhance its capabilities in dealing with the disaster situations from the experience gained over a period of time.

The meeting was chaired by Sh. Amrendra Kumar Sengar, Inspector General, NDRF and attended by the representatives from Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. Visited delegation was given an overview on NDRF and its activities by Inspector General, NDRF.
