TURKIYE EARTHQUAKE - FEB 2023

On 6th February 2023, a catastrophic earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck Turkiye and North-West Syria at around 0647 hrs (IST), causing widespread devastation and significant casualties.

On the direction of the Government of India, NDRF mobilized 03 teams to Turkiye to extend Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR). The teams conducted Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) operations from 08th February to 18th February 2023.

      

The NDRF teams managed to rescue 02 victims alive, retrieve 85 dead bodies from the rubble, and extended pre-hospital treatment (PHT) and medical assistance to 39 persons.

In addition to on-ground rescue operations, India also extended relief aid to both Turkiye and Syria. The National Disaster Response Reserve (NDRR) and other aid items were dispatched to assist affected people.

  • Solar Lamps - 350 Nos
  • Tarpaulins with eyelets - 130 Nos
  • 30 KVA Generator Sets - 04 Nos
  • Lactogen Baby Food - 1.5 Ton
  • EVD DW - 1.5 Ton
