RESCUE & RELIEF WORK BY NDRF IN UTTARAKHAND

15 self-contained teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in Uttarakhand in view of IMD’s red alert for heavy rainfall in the state. Six teams are deployed in Udham Singh Nagar district while two teams each are placed in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and one team each is deployed at Dehradun, Pithoragarh and Haridwar. Besides, one full team and one sub-team is deployed in Nainital while one sub- team is placed at Almora. All NDRF teams have been deployed in consultation with State authorities.

Rescue operation is in progress and so far teams have evacuated more than 300 stranded persons from Udham Singh Nagar district and other flood affected areas. One NDRF team is on alert at Uttarkashi to respond for any contingency on account of rains and ensure safety of Yatris in Char Dham Yatra which has been halted temporarily

11 NDRF teams are also deployed in Kerala as heavy rainfall since last few days has flooded various parts of the state. Besides, for immediate response during floods in any part of the country total 103 NDRF teams are deployed/pre-positioned across various parts of country to save precious lives.

A 24X7, NDRF Control Room in Delhi is monitoring the situation and is in close coordination with concerned state authorities.
