MUMBAI BUILDING COLLAPSE: NDRF TEAMS RESCUED 06 VICTIMS ALIVE
Dated: 16 July, 2019 Time: 1800 Hrs
Today, a four-storey residential building collapsed at Dongri (south Mumbai), in which several people got trapped under the debris. Immediately, 03 Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue teams of NDRF comprising trained responders and canines were rushed to the incident site from its nearest Regional Response Centre (RRC) Mumbai and started the search and rescue operations along with other agencies. NDRF rescuers are putting their best efforts to reach to the trapped victims and using its sophisticated equipment to remove the rubble and cut down the obstructive structures & materials. As victims are possibly trapped underneath due care is being taken by NDRF teams. So far, NDRF teams have rescued 06 victims alive and retrieved 01 dead Body. Rescue operation is in progress. Information provided from the hospital is that several others are in the hospital out of which 03 have reportedly succumbed.
Assam:- Flood rescue teams of NDRF deployed in Assam, carried out rescue and relief operation at Distt. Morigaon & Baksa where the low-lying areas are submerged due to increasing of water level in Brahmaputra river. During the operations, teams evacuated 824 persons to safer places.
Bihar: NDRF teams are tirelessly engaged in providing immediate succour to flood victims in Bihar where heavy rains created water logging in several low lying villages and stranded several people. NDRF teams commenced rescue operations at Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Araria, Motihari, Supaul & Muzaffarpur districts and evacuated people to safer places and also assisted the state administration in distribution of essential supplies. So far, nearly 4000 persons have been evacuated.
A 24x7 NDRF Control room is functioning round the clock to watch both the rescue operations. DG NDRF Sh. S. N. Pradhan, is personally monitoring the situations and status of rescue operations in Mumbai, Bihar & Assam.
